Part of Rome's founding myth is that Aeneas fled the destruction of Troy across the Mediterranean, eventually reaching Italy. Do we have any material evidence that shows Late Bronze Age Luwian peoples migrating across the Mediterranean to places such as Italy? Or is the Aeneid really just pure myth?

I'm a British naval captain from anywhere between 1700-1815. How absolute is my power? If I order a man to be flogged repeatedly, or order an execution for a minor infraction, is that allowed? If not, how are the rules prohibiting extreme punishment enforced?
